To say Chardonnay is one of Lanzerac’s focal points, is definitely no understatement. Since the renaming of the farm “Schoongezicht” to “Lanzerac” in 1920, Chardonnay has been high on the proverbial list of priorities. Rumoured to be a personal favourite of Mrs English, the grape was one of the first varietals originally vinified by Lanzerac.
This historic varietal and its association with Lanzerac, continues through to the modern day, with no less than 3 expressions of Chardonnay being produced on the estate.
Lanzerac’s current lineup of Chardonnay provides something for every palate, from an elegant Cap Classique, to a complex single vineyard iteration, named in honour of Mrs English.
For the discerning Chardonnay connoisseur, nothing compares to the Mrs English Chardonnay. A single vineyard marvel with complexity and character in every sip. A bold, uncompromising wine, similar in spirit to its namesake.
The modern, lightly wooded, Jonkershoek Chardonnay is as accessible to Chardonnay veterans as it is to newcomers. Bursting with citrus aromas, undertones of summer fruits and soft finish, you’d be forgiven for thinking the best pairing for this wine is a glass and a swimming pool!
The Lanzerac Cap Classique Brut has also turned over a new leaf. The new design will be available from November in limited quantities. Celebrate the start of summer in style with us!
