This luxury safari camp is located within South Africa’s biggest privately owned Game Reserve, Tswalu. With an extremely low ratio of guests to space (the camp accommodates a maximum of 18 adult guests), this low-impact approach to ecotourism ensures privacy and exclusivity as central to the Tswalu guest experience. The Motse is a luxury camp with nine private guest legae (Tswana for ‘home’) and is perfectly positioned to take in the wide, open spaces familiar to the Southern Kalahari’s dramatic beauty. Guests who opt to stay in one of these camps also contribute to the conservation of the Southern Kalahari’s biodiversity.

Frequently Asked Questions about this Tour

All locations on this tour are malaria-free.

Tswalu offers a variety of unique activities – aside from Game Drives and Bush Walks, Horse Riding and a visit to a meerkat colony are amongst our favourites. Tswalu also had an incredible sleep-out activity on the Kalahari Dunes which needs to be pre-reserved.

Tswalu Game Reserve is not a Big 5 destination but offers a more specialised safari experience where guests can find many rare and critically endangered species such as the African Wild Dog and Black Rhino. Indigenous gardens throughout the camp are a haven for antelope and birds. At the same time, the waterhole in front of the main guest area attracts a variety of wildlife, especially in the dry season. There are 85 mammals and 264 bird species at Tswalu, along with many reptiles, insects and butterflies, and most of the animals on the reserve are dry savanna specialists that are well adapted to the harsh conditions of the savanna biome with its extreme temperatures and scarcity of water in the winter months.
